TRAINING

The Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) offers a suite of distance learning resources, tools and communities on information management.

IMARK is a partnership-based e-learning initiative to train individuals and support institutions and networks world-wide in the effective management of agricultural information. It is being spearheaded by FAO in collaboration with over 30 partner and contributing organizations and is coordinated through a Steering Group.

Among a number of modules, we’d like to introduce:

Web 2.0 and Social Media for Development

The module describes a wide range of social media tools that enhance the ways in which information is created and published, and which provide the means to collaborate and share resources online. It also describes how to take advantage of those tools for more effective networking, collaboration and exchange of knowledge.

TUTORIALS

Many of us know the YouTube tutorials on web 2.0 instruments. Today we have chosen for you: Blogs in plain english.

Why blogs? You just read one! What is the idea behind?

It is a way for every person to have the power to share news, to share and to link, to build a community with other bloggers.

You can start your own blog for free on wordpress.com or blogger.com. But mind you: while setting it up only takes a couple of minutes, writing a good, successful and regularly updated blog takes time, energy and ideas. If you are ready to invest these, you gain access to a great new communication channel that allows for the exchange with like-minded people all around the world.
